(This is a two-part blog. This week we visit Coffee Shop #1)
COFFEE SHOP #1
I was visiting a city where I was doing some consulting. On the first day I visited one of the most famous coffee shops in this city. When I entered, I could feel an “attitude” in the air. You can tell by the way the baristas are working with customers.
Sure enough, it was a coffee shop that felt they were the authorities are what you would want and made your decisions for you.
Even though they featured French press coffeepots on display with pricing, the gentleman who waited on me said they don’t serve French press coffee.
I told him that was okay. I asked for a strong cup of drip brew. He said they didn’t serve coffee. They only serve expresso.
He suggested I have an Americano. I’ve never had good luck with those— but this one was the worst. It was like weak colored water.
I then asked for a slice of their banana bread. When I asked if it could be warmed up he informed me that a piece of banana bread wouldn’t fit in a toaster. So, he threw a cold slice of it in a bag.
I handed him a credit card and he informed me that they only took cash, checks or Venmo. I rifled through my wallet and found an old check to pay for it.
You’ve heard of the Soup Nazi, right? I think that’s where I was.
Question for You:
Would you visit this coffee shop a second time?
