Even though you may need to make some adjustments now that we are getting things back to normal, you may want to ensure that for everything you must adjust (that takes something away from your customer) that you add something special back into what you do.
You’re probably wondering how you can add things when you might be cutting some things. All you must do is make sure that you are doing some things that make your customers have a better experience.
PERSONALIZE SOMETHING FOR YOUR CUSTOMER
Here’s an example. Coffee prices are rising, so my coffee may cost more than a few months ago. Recently, though when it was my birthday and I happened to mention it, the barista wrote “Happy Birthday, Dan” with a sharpie and drew balloons and stars on the cup. Who would take the time to do it? She would. It made by day. It’s worth more than almost anything else she could have done.
START A CUSTOMER WISH LIST
Maybe you could keep a list of your customer’s wishes and call them when you get in the merchandise in.
KEEP DISCOUNT CARDS FOR OTHER CHAMBER MEMBERS
Perhaps you have a few discount cards from another Chamber member that you could pass out to your customers when they make a purchase.
GIVE OUT PROMOTIONAL CALENDARS
It may cost a little, but if you’ve never given out calendars with your name on, you might order some this year and provide as many as you can to customers. Each month they see your name again and again.
SPECIAL DEBUT OF NEW PRODUCTS
Sponsor a breakfast for your top clients and debut some of the newest things you’ll be adding to your product/service line-up.
HAVE A MONTHLY DRAWING
Collect customer contact information in a container and select one customer to get a special discount or small free item.
