Suddenly I found myself at my dentist’s office (which isn’t close to where I live) with two appointments in one day. The first one in the morning was to remove an old crown. The second one later in the afternoon was to put the new crown in.
The issue was that there was a lot of time between those two appointments, so I couldn’t go back home. Instead, I thought I’d make the time count and get some projects done. You see, it’s hard for me to waste time. I wrote the book PerfectTIMING—and it’s all about being a peak performer (which means being as efficient and effective as possible).
I thought I would pass along the things I did between the two dental appointments so that you could consider one or more of these ideas helpful to giving you a jump start on the week, month, or year.
—Look at your schedule and see if there is anything you would like to rearrange so that you don’t double up on travel or work that could all be done if grouped be executed within the same time chunk.
—Pick your theme for the following year. What will be the mantra that will carry you to success? It will be what you think about and say every day.
—Write a quick e-mail to each of the folks that you have been meaning to connect with for quite some time. It doesn’t have to be long, but they will likely thank you for reaching out.
—Write your first draft of an article for LinkedIn so that you continually work on using this networking mechanism and keep improving your personal brand.
