When I worked for Dow Jones, I was sent to new locations to live about every five years. The great thing about that was that I could recreate myself, or “recalibrate” for the team that I would lead in each individual community.
It’s the perfect scenario because I was meeting them for the first time and they did not know my leadership style.
But you don’t have to move to be able to do that. As we now approach the end of the first quarter, think about what you would like to change about how you lead or operate.
Maybe some of your resolutions are going well. If that’s the case, then carry on.
But perhaps you are not getting the results you want and would like to operate in an entirely different way. If so, think about what you’d like to change and get ready to make those changes.
It’s your choice as to whether you want to ease in with one change to how you do what you do OR to just do a complete turn-around.
The thing is that we are all in a position where we can grow. Who wants to be the same person they’ve always been or lead in the same way you always have?
List just a few changes you’d like to make and see if you can start next Monday.
