Question: There is so much coming at me each day. How do I know I'm focusing on what should be my Number 1 priority?
I think I've only missed a flight once in an airport. It was not a happy call to tell my wife I was enjoying a drink at the Sky Lounge and that I had plenty of time to do that, since I just missed my flight and there wasn't another one until late that evening.Ever since then I check the board to make sure I didn't miss my flight. Another reason I keep checking it is that sometimes they change the gate number for a flight-- and it's not always close by.In PerfectTIMING I talk about this situation and relate it to your work day. I propose that all day long you should be asking yourself this question:"Is what I'm doing THIS VERY MOMENT the Perfect use of my time? "If you are, give yourself a pat on the back. You've stayed on track. You are focusing on that ONE THING that deserves your attention. But if you veered off course because of interruptions or another reason-- hop off of what you're doing and get back to your Number 1 Priority. This technique saves you plenty of time throughout the day. It's one of the time management secrets I give you in my book PerfectTIMING to help you find two extra hours in your day.
